1. Install OBS Studio from this webpage www.obsproject.com
2. Run OBS Studio
3. Select tools / Auto-Configuration Wizard

4. Select Optimize for streaming, click Next

5. Select resolution, (sugestion: let system do it for You for the begining) and click Next

6. Select "Custom Streaming Server", paste params from material(encoder url and stream key) and click next

7. Start bandwidth testing, then click Apply (Apply button will be clickable after tests)

8. Program will show params, Apply them

9. To start encoding - click Start Encoding

10. Track params of streaming in status bar

When live stream is during the broadcast then on the material appears information in "Transmission status" that live stream is "DURING TRANSMISSION".
Below will be information with the current number of viewers at each website. This information is updated every 5 seconds.
One of the positions on this list may be "Other website", under this name there are technical sites that monitor the correct working of the transmission.

After pressing the Edit button in the "Show live/recording" field you can select one of the materials created in step 8 to be displayed instead of the live stream.

1. Pre-roll ads - their configuration is no different from those for regular materials. These ads are delivered to the user after the player starts.


2. Overlay ad every XX seconds - small banners over video



In order for an overlay ad to be displayed it cannot be higher than 90px and at the same time it cannot be higher than 1/3 of the player height

Overlays configuration:
A separate website on the platform is required,
*Regular or prebid ad codes added for pre-rolls (only linear),
In the website edit, make sure that mid-roll ads are enabled:


Regular ad codes added for mid-rolls which must be configured to deliver only overlay ads. When adding an ad code, make sure to select it to be used only for mid-rolls:


This ad code must be added under the Vast Provider, which is marked "only for non-liner ads" - ask an administrator for help,
Overlays are displayed every XX seconds (min 60s) – this time is set in the website Edit under "Time space between mid-roll ads" field, first attempt to display an ad after half of this time. The "Minimal length of video material for mid-rolls" option is ignored:




3. TV ad breaks using SCTE-35 ad signals with MPEG-TS or EXT-X-CUE-xxxxx with HLS

Ad break timing should be passed using stream "time" and not real time. And it is not possible to obtain current stream time outside of encoder. So such functionality should be included into encoder. For this you should choose one of these 2 protocols:

-MPEG-TS is very popular (those are stream used for any TV transmission: satellite , terrestrial, cable tv) but it is much more difficult technically (it is send via UDP and this type of transmission is very delicate for internet).

-HLS is more popular in internet and widely used. Every "big" cloud (Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure) use HLS with EXT-X-CUE signals to stream video with ad break information.

Usage of proper protocol depens on hardware available – it is always done by hardware encoders (in TV stations).

This is a very simple option to change, simply select under Live stream type when creating a live stream - "Live with 120 minutes timeshift, recording max 6 hours".
With timeshift we can pause the livestream and after pausing it we will return to the moment we stopped and we can go back up to 2h back. A normal livestream after pausing will rewind to real time and we cannot rewind it.



It is also important to remember when livestreaming with timeshift to delete the previous recording because the user will be able to rewind the broadcast, e.g. to a test broadcast which was started before the official one.

It supports 3 types of material:

• regular video - can be cut immediately
• livestream - you need to convert the file before trimming
• livestream with time shift - can be cut immediately, works up to 2h backward

To use this option with livestream we recommend using timeshift. Timeshift livestream can be cut straight away without converting the file, a normal livestream file has to be converted first and appears in temporary files and can be cut from these files. Material from temporary files is deleted after 24h.



This is where you specify the moments at which the video is clipped, at which point the clipping should start and at which point it should end.

Once saved, the cropped video shows up in temporary files.

Once a temporary video has been selected, it can be further trimmed or saved as a video.

After clicking save, you are redirected to the video creation option, where you have to select a storage, add a title, etc.

This option can be found in the video cut section.
This option allows us to merge material from a virtual drive and temporary files.


Click the "Merge video" to enter the video merge interface.

We can merge material from the virtual disk and temporary files
Here videos can be added in 2 ways: drag and drop or select material from a list and click the + button.

After selecting the materials, click "Save video merge", then the file will go to temporary files.

Once the conversion is complete, we can add the file to our storage
